Most of my cooking is for the critters. Lucky for them especially since cooking isn’t something I enjoy. The easier the better so I when I read how to make a grain bake on Parrot Nation I knew it was something I had to try. After all how much easier can it get than just putting everything into 1 container, adding water and baking?
The great thing about the grain bake (other than you can eat it yourself) is you can use all types of ingredients. I decided to go with a bit of a holiday theme for my inaugural bake.
Ingredients I used included:
Cooked mixed beans
cranberries
a yam
millet
wheat
oats
barley
kamut(not shown)
quinoa
chopped walnuts
sliced pecans
cinnamon(not shown)
I’ll let you read the cooking instructions and explanation of the bake on Parrot Nation.
The birds were happy to try something new and get into the holiday spirit.
It never fails. You spend time thinking about what to buy. Time to go get it. You even spend time wrapping it. And no matter you buy, They always prefer the box.
I’m so behind the times, I didn’t even know yesterday was National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day until late in the day. Luckily Cletus and Buford were on top of things and ready to celebrate the day!
If it was possible I’d have my house decorated in all things having to do with animals. But it’s not in my budget and my family might think it’s a little crazy(though not totally out of the realm of my devotion to pets). Keeping the pet theme to a holiday seems much more doable.
Here are some things to get started with.

This time of year with all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I always forget what I was planning on buying for my pets. If I were organized (ha!) I’d keep a list, but I’m not so that means I have to start thinking what would be the perfect gift for each of my pets. Not an easy task when you start looking at everything there is out there for pets.
Luckily there is some help that helps make it easier to make up my mind.
Thank you to the pet bloggers who spend time putting together Holiday Gift Guides. With their help I have my list together in no time.
Here are some of the gift guides you find to help you make up your mind. (Pet Bloggers- if you have a gift guide you’d like to see in the list, please leave a link to it in the comments.)
